Greetings to the momaha community!
I’m privileged to have the opportunity to join the team of talented bloggers this semester as an intern at momaha.com.
My name is Anna Backhaus and I’d like to introduce myself through photographs to give you a little flavor of who I am.
Much of the woman I am was shaped by my fundamental-christian upbringing. Being raised in a sheltered environment gave me the drive to explore and embrace every part of life.
I consider myself a spiritual person, because I believe in the unseen connections of this world. I don’t know who I would be without my spiritual ideals and appreciation for every experience I encounter. I’m a free-spirit.
My children are the light of my life and have taught me the power of unconditional love.
Chandler Royal, 10, has a passion for skatingboarding. Recently, he developed a love for music and joined the band at his school. He is learning the saxophone, keyboard and djembe (an african drum).
Liam Noble, 4, is wise beyond his years and his bossy mentality is enduring. He has an incredible ability to build Lego vehicles, houses and towns.
Jett Legend, 3, is a ball of energy. His passions include trains, superheroes and hearty meals.
Being a mother is an amazing experience for me.
My family is a big part of my life. I have four sisters who I love with all my heart. My mother and sisters are my best friends. I am so blessed to have them and couldn’t imagine life without them.
In my family we support one another’s dreams and challenge one another’s abilities.
My best memories are with my family and we are still making memories together everyday. From play-dates with cousins to family dinners there is never a dull moment, which I love.
My education is something that means so much to me. I had my first child when I was 18, so my education got put on hold. Though I managed to continue taking classes it was only a few at a time.
Being a single mother and working to provide for my little family became my top priority.
Over, the last 10 years I’ve gotten married, had two more children and moved across the country a few times.
Currently, I am finishing my final senior semester at University of Nebraska at Omaha. Continuing in college was my sanity through the ups-and-downs of the past few years. It has been my saving grace.
Lastly, I can’t remember a day gone by without a delicious cup of coffee.
I love everything about coffee. My earliest memories are of my mom and dad drinking coffee in the morning and its magical aroma would fill our home. I love the different flavors and numerous ways to drink coffee. I love the history of coffee and the journey each coffee bean takes to get to my cup.
Coffee is a little luxury I lose myself in and would have a hard time living without it.
Anna Backhaus, 29, is a mother of three boys and a senior journalism major at University of Nebraska at Omaha, interning for momaha this fall.
