The 2nd Annual Aksarben Ribfest kicks off Thursday. It’ll hosts five world class rib cooking teams for three days of hot BBQ, cold brews & live music! Free admission and free parking all weekend. Fees charged for food.
Millard Days is happening right now. Festivities are held at Andersen Park, near 136th & Q Streets, and features a daily carnival, a parade on Saturday, and a Family Day and auto show on Sunday.
The Cox Classic Golf Tournament is this weekend at Champions Run Golf Course.
Omaha Fashion Week will continue this weekend with more catwalk shows. The schedule: Thursday – evening wear; Friday – menswear, swimwear and VESSEL by designers Dan Richters and Buf Reynolds; Saturday — the grand finale best of show collections.
The Nebraska State Fair kicks off Friday in Grand Island, Neb. Check out a few of the headliners performing: Trace Adkins, Chicago and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Celebrate “Inflatable Fridays” at the Omaha Kroc Center, 2825 Y St., from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Enjoy a fun night in the pool with entertaining and colorful inflatable toys. Bring a swimsuit and towel. Free for members; nonmembers: $5 for youth and $7 for adults.
The Omaha Greek Festival is this weekend at the Canfield Plaza, near 85th Street and West Center Road. The Festival features Greek food, music, dancing, traditional dress, pony rides, bounce houses, face-painting and other activities for kids. Children 12 and under are admitted free.
Check out the End of Summer Friday Concerts at Turner Park at Midtown Crossing. Billy McGuigan performs at 7 pm. Pre-concert music by UNO musicians at 6:30 p.m.
Hear Cornhusker band at free stadium show. The Cornhusker Marching Band will return to Memorial Stadium with the Cornhusker Marching Band Exhibition at 7 p.m. Friday. Click here for more details.
Shadow Lake Towne Center’s Sounds of Summer Concert series continues with band eNVy. Show starts at 6:30 p.m.
The seventh annual Midlands Pirate Festival will return Saturday and Sunday to the Bellevue Berry and Pumpkin Ranch, 11001 S. 48th St. in Papillion. Festival hours will be 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Check out the Family Fun Fest at the AllPlay Sports Complex this Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It’s a kickball tournament and carnival held to raise awareness for the programs Easter Seals Nebraska provides to the state.
Head to the North Omaha Play Streets Saturday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. along North 24th Street between Lake and Parker Streets. The street will be filled with activities such as rock climbing, cooking demos, hopscotch, Zumba etc. Free and open to the public.
