Puppets are always a hit in my house.
What I love about these paper puppets is that you can use just about anything to decorate them.
After every art project, we take all useable scraps and throw them in a drawer. When it came time to decorate our monsters, we had a drawer full of cool trimmings to use on our puppets.
This craft project is simple but provided hours of entertainment for both of my kids.
8″x11″ Colored Paper
Optional: yarn, pom poms, pipe cleaners, glitter, markers, etc.
1. Fold an 8″x11″ sheet of colored paper vertically into thirds (see picture below).
2. Now fold the sheet of paper in half.
3. Fold each side of the sheet of paper in half as pictured. This will make an accordion.
4. Decorate by adding a tongue, eyes, hair, and whatever else makes you happy!
I loved how creative my daughter Alivia was with this project. She decorated the purple puppet (with my assistance) and her idea to use some scrap yarn for hair was great.
My son Bennett just enjoyed gluing on the googly eyes. I think he would have used the entire package on the yellow puppet if I would have let him!
