I’ve been so bad at this “what I wore” segment – usually because there is no one around to take my picture when I’m rushing out of the house to my next destination.
However, I did rustle up most of the items I’ve been wearing lately – and a few “similar” items I’ve found online.
In the absence of actual photographs, I managed to piece together the outfits for your viewing pleasure.
Not only is the temperature going up, my BMI is too, and that calls for absolute comfort (and cool) in my daily outfits.
Here’s a little number I recently wore to a women’s luncheon. Maxi skirts are my absolute favorite item in this late phase of my pregnancy. I can keep them from falling down. I can wear them anywhere. And I can pair them with fun sandals and non-maternity cardigans. (I try to fit in as many non-maternity items as I can in silent protest!) Notice I’m also mixing prints like I mentioned in a former blog. (Shopping info here.)
Several days each week, I volunteer in my older son’s classroom while my younger son is at preschool. On those days, I want to be comfortable but not look like I just rolled out of bed and into my workout clothes. I found some great linen pants that are so lightweight and comfortable, that I can wear them all day. I usually pair them with a cotton tank and again a non-maternity cardigan in a bright color. Those days I go light on the jewelry and always wear a watch so I can make sure I drop everyone off and pick them up in time. My white jelly watch is casual, stylish and my absolute favorite timepiece. (Shopping info here.)
This week, I had my first business meeting in almost seven years. Choosing what to wear when not pregnant is hard enough seeing as my business suits are so old, they actually have shoulder pads. I do not kid. Add in a third trimester figure, and the pressure was on. Luckily, the office I visited was pretty casual. I chose black pants – always a standby – and a black and white cotton tank. I layered a bright maternity cardigan, matching jewelry and a coordinating handbag too. I actually slipped into my most comfortable heels and pulled off a semi-professional look. On the weekends, I opt for items that are far more casual. I have a pair of black bermudas that are ultra comfy and they have pockets, which I always need on the weekends when I’m toting toys and trinkets around for the boys. I paired them with a longer cotton tunic that made my bottom half appear smaller, and I slipped into some wedge sandals, perfect for elongating my legs but still easy to walk in. Finally, I have pulled out my straw tote which is great for carrying home fruits and veggies from the farmer’s market. (Shopping info here.)
