Actress Kym Whitley has played several roles in her lifetime but none greater than the one she has now.
Known for her outlandish roles in films “Next Friday,” “Deliver Us from Eva,” and “Along Came Polly,” Whitley is a mom — in real life.
A role she didn’t ask for but, she said she feels blessed to have been given. A girl whom Kym had mentored had given birth to a baby boy, only to exit the maternity ward having chosen Kym as the guardian for the child.
Whitley isn’t married, but there are plenty of helping hands willing to raise her son Joshua.
Momaha.com recently sat down with Whitley to discuss her transition into motherhood and her new show on OWN’s docu-series “Raising Whitley.” It follows her and several of her close friends – whom she calls “the village” – as they attempt to do something none of them have ever done before: raise a baby… together.
Watch “Raising Whitley” on Saturdays at 9 p.m. CT on OWN.
