The Taste of Home Cooking School is once again coming to Omaha.
The April 9 show, sponsored by The World-Herald, has moved to the Ralston Arena, and you can win a chance to go to the show.
Tickets for this year’s Taste of Home Cooking School are still on sale. General admission tickets are $12 in advance at Hy-Vee Supermarkets in the Omaha-Council Bluffs metropolitan area. General admission tickets also are available online at www.omaha.com/tasteofhome.
Local merchants and others will have booths with information and free samples at the show. Some of the participating businesses include Burbach’s Countryside Dairy, Handcrafted Glass Jewelry, Savory Spice Shop, Old World Oil and Vinegar, Nebraska Pork Producers, Nothing Bundt Cakes and the Nebraska Beef Council.
The cooking demonstration will start at 7 p.m. Klinzing, who has a degree in performing arts and a background in the food industry, will demonstrate 10 recipes in a lively, music-filled show that offers lots of practical tips for home cooks. The demonstration is broadcast on big screens so everyone in the arena can see.
If you have a day to devote to the cooking school, you can go to www.omaha.com/tasteofhome for information about being an onstage helper for culinary specialist Guy Klinzing.
We asked readers to share why they’d like to attend the Taste of Home Cooking School for a chance to win tickets.
Congrats to Sarah Tomasek for winning a pair of tickets to the show.
“I would love to go to the show to see more ways to make my kids eat healthier. I am sick of them eating at fast food. Plan ahead food would be great to keep them fed if I am out for work,” Tomasek wrote.
The winner can retrieve her tickets by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org her contact information.
