Spring is nearly here. With weather predicted in the mid 50′s this weekend, it’ll be the perfect opportunity to shake those winter blues with the family.

Support roughly 200 teams from across the nation as they compete in a robotics tournament at the Ralston Arena, 7300 Q St. The event will run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Saturday.
Attend the Lakeshore Learning Store‘s grand opening which will feature a variety of free, fun and educational activities for the whole family to enjoy — from kids’ interactive games and arts and crafts stations to hands-on product demonstrations. Guests will even have the opportunity to play Lakeshore’s Plinko game for a chance to win “Lakeshore bucks” valued at up to $50. The three-day celebration is at 12005 W. Center Rd.
“Oz the Great and Powerful” opens today in theaters. The highly anticipated Disney film is a prequel to the classic film we all know and love. Check your local listing for the show times.

SATURDAY
Attend the American Girl workshop special with your daughter at Barnes and Noble, 3333 Oakview Dr. The event “Just Between Us” is recommended for girls ages 8 and up and begins at 9:30 a.m.
Head to your local Marcus Theater for the Kids Dream Winter Film Series. This weekend’s film is “Rise of the Guardians.” The show begins at 10 a.m. and also plays Sunday at 11 a.m.
SUNDAY
Check out one of the new IMAX films at the Henry Doorly Zoo. Dinosaurs Alive! 3D is sure to engage the interest of the entire family. And who doesn’t love 3D films? Show times for this film are at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. While your there, be sure to check out the baby lion cubs.
Join a charity Zumbathon with ZFit72 to help raise money for March of Dimes research. The event takes place at 15050 W. Maple Rd. from 1-4 p.m. Price is $20 in advance and $25 day of. Donations are always welcome as well.
Public skating at the Ralston Arena is today from 2:45-4:30 p.m. Admission is $5 per person and $3 for skate rentals.
Enjoy a wine and food basket as you relax with some local talent at Soaring Wings Vineyard & Brewing. This event is free and is from 2-5 p.m.
Watch the Omaha Lancers take on the Muskegon Lumberjacks at the Ralston Arena. Game starts at 5:05 p.m. Tickets are available at the box office before the game or can be purchased in advance as well.
TUESDAY
Opening night of the Disney’s The Lion King is tonight at the Orpheum Theater. Tickets are still available and can be purchased at www.ticketomaha.com. Prices range from $35-$165.
WEDNESDAY
Taylor Swift begins her tour in Omaha today at the CenturyLink Center. Tickets for tonight and tomorrow’s show are still available at the CenturyLink Center box office or by phone at 800-745-3000.
