Omaha students should expect to spend a little more time in the classroom the next few years.
Monday morning, an Omaha school board committee approved adding three student days to the next three school years, as well as an additional teacher planning day. All of the days would be added to the beginning of the school year.
The full board still needs to approve the longer calendar as well as the district’s new agreement with the Omaha Education Association, the OPS teachers union.
The board is expected to approve both items at its regular meeting at 6:30 tonight at the Teacher Administrative Center, 3215 Cuming St.
