Work off that Valentine’s Day candy and get active with your families this weekend.

There are lots of events going on to enjoy.

SATURDAY

Parents, bring your families to KidzExplore this weekend. This year’s theme is “When I Grow Up” and will offer activities that allow children to explore many different jobs. The event begins at 10 a.m. and lasts till 5 p.m. today and Sunday at the Mid-America Center. Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for children ages 3-12 and free for children under two.

Attend Aksarben Cinema’s Free Family Flicks at 11 a.m. This weekend’s movie is “Hotel Transylvania.” Doors open at 10:30 a.m. Donations of non-perishable food items are encouraged.

Railroad lovers of all ages are invited to the Durham Museum for “Chatter & Clatter” from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Learn about train robbers of the Old West in an informal class hosted by Leo Racine.

Didn’t get enough romance this Valentine’s Day? Spend an evening at Soaring Wings Winery, 17111 S 138th St., Springfield, Neb., and enjoy a night filled with heavy appetizers, a chocolate fountain, desserts, and a select bottle of wine for you and your significant other to enjoy. Cost: $70.00 per couple. Reservations are required. Call 402-253-2479.

Bars throughout the city will be celebrating the second annual Omaha Beer Week with special brews, tap takeovers, beer-and-food pairings, a bus tour to several local bars, and a beer festival. To find out more about the beer tour click here.

SUNDAY

Watch some of the best Junior Olympic Volleyball teams from around the nation compete at the CenturyLink Center during this 3 day tournament. Games begin today at 8 a.m.

Learn about astronomy at the Kountze Planetarium, 6001 Dodge St, during their show “More Than Meets the Eye”. The event costs $3 per person and will start at 2 p.m.

Take the whole family to Family Skate Night at the Motto McLean Ice Arena. The cost for a family of 4 is only $10 and each additional person is $3. The cost includes admission, skate rentals, popcorn and drink. Skating starts at 3 p.m. and ends at 5 p.m.

Listen to the famous country group Zac Brown Band perform live at the CenturyLink Center. Tickets range from $39.50 to $69.50. The show starts at 7 p.m.

TUESDAY

Watch the Creighton basketball team play Southern Illinois at the CenturyLink Center. The game begins at 7:05 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the CenturyLink Center Box Office.

THURSDAY

The Tangier Shrine Circus is back in town, but only for the weekend. The first show begins tonight at 7 p.m. at the Omaha Civic Auditorium, 1804 Capitol Avenue. Tickets range from $12 to $30.
