Josie Loza: Nebraska Methodist College flash mob video raises awareness of violent acts against women
Josie Loza Omaha World-Herald

In an effort to raise awareness of violence against women, the Nebraska Methodist College created a flash mob dance video and plans to host a “One Billion Rising” dance event at the Josie Harper Campus-Clark Center, 720 N. 87th St., on Feb. 14 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

One Billion Rising is a world-wide movement with the mission to end violence against women and girls.

Activist and playwright Eve Ensler used proceeds from her award-winning play “The Vagina Monologues” as a vehicle to fund the global initiative.

Actress Anne Hathaway has become the face of One Billion Rising, touting it in Glamour Magazine’s January 2013 issue.

In Omaha, the Valentine’s Day event will also include speakers, such as Methodist Health System SANE Program Coordinator Anne Boatright, dance performances and short dance instruction.
