“Alert Today, Alive Tomorrow: Living With the Atomic Bomb, 1945-1965” opened Saturday at the Strategic Air & Space Museum near Ashland, Neb.
For two decades after atomic bombs ended World War II, the looming threat of atomic war dominated U.S. society. The traveling exhibit explores how Americans experienced the atomic threat as part of their daily lives. The show features more than 75 original objects from the era, as well as large-scale graphics, radio broadcasts and film.
“Alert Today, Alive Tomorrow” is free with regular paid admission or membership.
Tickets available free for Bill Nye program
Free tickets can be reserved starting at noon Monday for Bill Nye’s presentation at the April 12 inaugural Nebraska Science Festival.
The festival will run April 12-14 and will feature science- and technology-related activities across the Omaha area, all with the goal of making science accessible, interactive, relevant and fun for kids and adults.
Nye is a mechanical engineer, author, television host, comedian and inventor. He will speak at 7:30 p.m. at Joslyn Museum’s Witherspoon Concert Hall.
Although his presentation is free, you need a ticket. The show is suitable for ages 12 and older.
To reserve tickets — a maximum of two per person — call 402-559-9990 starting at noon Monday. Tickets must be picked up at the Durham Museum, 801 S. 10th St., during the time frame specified when you reserve them. A photo ID will be required at pickup.
