Amy Grace: Maternity Fashion: What I wore

I’ve rustled up most of the items I’ve been wearing lately. Check them out.

Chris Donnelly: My son is the LeBron James of selective hearing

He’s a best-in-class parental ignorer, and it’s infuriating.

“Cheating” is for diets. And I’m not a fan of diets.

Danielle Herzog: Kansas City Triathlon: Race day jitters and uncertainty

My husband and brother-in-law trained the past 14 weeks for it.

Tracie McPherson: The greedy American way: Buy, buy, buy

Maybe the cure is to ask yourself: “Do you need it or want it?” Who am I kidding, that didn’t work for me.

Now with kids, I’m breaking every single promise to myself.

Josie Loza: Meet momaha’s guest storyteller: Sheila Christ of She.La boutique
Josie Loza Omaha World-Herald

We’re excited to announce tonight’s guest reader for momaha’s Evening Children’s Story Time will be Sheila Christ, who owns She.La in Countryside Village.

She’s has owned the prêt-à-porter (or ready-to-wear) store for 15 years now. About 18 months ago, the store started carrying children’s wear — sizes newborn to age 12 for girls and newborn to age 6 for boys.

Sheila is wife to Fred Vakili and a mom to 4-year-old son Cameron (who is photographed above).

The couple will take turns reading at  the 7 p.m. story time tonight at the Bookworm Bookstore, near 87th and Pacific Streets. The story time lasts for about 30 minutes.

The bookstore holds a very special place in the couple’s hearts.

While Sheila was expecting Cameron, many of her customers — who also frequent the Bookworm — thought it would be nice to establish a home library for him.

“So they went to the Bookworm and started his library,” Mom said. “He reads at an 8-year-old level and he’s only 4.”

For tonight’s story time, children are encouraged to wear their pajamas and bring a teddy bear (or other small stuffed animal). The reading will include a toast to the new year with milk and cookies. Children also can share their New Year’s resolutions.

We hope to see you there.
