Jill Koegel: Not on a diet? Then it’s not cheating

“Cheating” is for diets. And I’m not a fan of diets.

Maybe the cure is to ask yourself: “Do you need it or want it?” Who am I kidding, that didn’t work for me.

Here you go, Internet, one of my unfine moments. Use it to not error as I did.

Amy Grace: Oscar Fashion: I can’t wait.
Amy Grace Omaha World-Herald

I know we haven’t even made it through the holidays yet, but I’m already looking forward to the New Year.

And while the early part of any new year can be a bit dull, I always look forward to the Academy Awards.

Before we had children, my husband and I would see all the movies that were nominated so that we could complete our own ballots and root for our favorites.

These days, we are lucky if we get to see one or two movies during a year’s time.  That doesn’t mean, however, that I have given up the annual watching of the Academy Awards.

It’s different now though, I can’t lie.

It’s only for the dresses.

I mean I’ve always loved the dresses, but now I actually invest hours into watching the ceremony just to see what women are wearing.

Last year was a good year for the women of the Oscar’s. Most of the stars made wise, if not fantastic, choices in evening wear.

But there are always those precious few women, who are forever immortalized by iconic images that spill out onto the covers of check-out line magazines.

Even if you aren’t into giving up five hours of your life that you’ll never get back, you’ve probably caught a glimpse somewhere of these awful moments in Hollywood history.

Cher

Bjork

Whoop Goldberg

Gina Davis

But many of last year’s A-listers made up for the worst choices of yesteryear. Here are a few of my absolute faves:

Cameron Diaz

Viola Davis

Milla Jovovich

Michelle Williams

It may not be the most intellectual way to spend my time, but I still can’t wait to see what everyone is wearing to the Academy Awards in Feburary. There are some starlets that forever have great style, and some that are hit and miss. But no doubt, there will be at least one Oscar-goer that will leave us with a lasting image of their unfortunate choice in Red-Carpet attire.
