Gabriella and I attended momaha’s play date at the Omaha Children’s Museum today.
At 22 months, Gabriella is always so serious when we go to events. Little did we know that this play date would be so magical. It was probably the most fun we’ve had at the museum because everything that happened was so random from a forced evacuation to dancing in the snow.
After an hour or so of play, Gabriella finally cracked a smile.
I’d like to think mommy’s light piano-playing talent did it. But, more than likely, it was the “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” tune we played by hitting different color buttons to make lights flash on a wall.
We moved upstairs to hang out in the “Itty Bitty City” exhibit when a fire alarm sounded.
We didn’t realize it was an actual drill because we were playing near the Itty Bitty Fire Station and thought it was part of the display.
We were escorted out of the building and told to walk to the front parking lot.
Gabriella clutched a toy from inside as we walked around the building.
Thankfully, there was no fire. False alarm. But I’m so happy the Omaha Children’s Museum staff worked quickly to get everyone out. Well done!
Gabriella was not excited about waiting outside with no coat. It wasn’t that long of a wait… maybe five minutes.
Once we were inside, we stood in line for the “Santa’s Magic” show.
We danced with an elf to Christmas music. A huge smile stretched across Gabriella’s face as she wiggled and danced with other kids.
And then the magic happened.
The Snow Princess made it snow inside. Wide-eyed children happily ran around trying to catch snowflakes (cotton-like confetti).
Santa came down a chimney.
Two words: real beard.
The tots sang songs and danced some more as they watched the show. Even Gabriella was impressed.
But not enough to want to take a photo with him.
Check out the photos below.
