Josie Loza: Mini movie review: Life of Pi

World-Herald’s movie critic Bob Fischbach’s take:

Life of Pi (PG) Based on the novel by Yann Martel, this color-drenched story of a teen who survives a shipwreck, only to be trapped on a lifeboat with a ferocious tiger, hits the sweet spot between fantasy and realism. Great direction from Ang Lee. Surai Sharma and Irrfan Khan star. Think “Slumdog Millionaire” and “Cast Away.” Intense for preteens. 3.5 stars.

Life of Pi would be one of my favorite movies of this year. It is amazing that they were able to turn a story like this into a beautiful film. Both the story and effects were amazing and I plan on seeing the movie again soon. I’ve added it to my queue on Blockbuster @Home from DISH so as soon as it becomes available on Blu-Ray, it will be sent to my home. It will save me from having to dig it out at the store. I saw the movie with one of my DISH coworkers and we both loved it.
