Amy Grace: Maternity Fashion: What I wore

I’ve rustled up most of the items I’ve been wearing lately. Check them out.

He’s a best-in-class parental ignorer, and it’s infuriating.

Jill Koegel: Not on a diet? Then it’s not cheating

“Cheating” is for diets. And I’m not a fan of diets.

Danielle Herzog: Kansas City Triathlon: Race day jitters and uncertainty

My husband and brother-in-law trained the past 14 weeks for it.

Tracie McPherson: The greedy American way: Buy, buy, buy

Maybe the cure is to ask yourself: “Do you need it or want it?” Who am I kidding, that didn’t work for me.

Now with kids, I’m breaking every single promise to myself.

Amy Grace: Dress for the holidays for $100 or less
Amy Grace Omaha World-Herald

We’ve got Halloween under our belts. That means the holiday season is on its way.

You’ve probably got a few events already on the calendar.

While the holidays are time to celebrate, they can also be very expensive. So how can you dress for every festive occasion without breaking the bank?

Chances are you have black shoes and versatile accessories in your closet. So here are some stylish and inexpensive options (all are approximately $100 or less) to wear them with.

If you are a party girl and love to stand out in a crowd, sequins are your best friend. Slip into this black sequin shift, add pumps and simple accesories.

[Mango Dress $90]

If you are a little more on the conservative side, or are attending a holiday party with clients or higher ups, this dress is the perfect choice. The red is festive, the neckline is work-appropriate and the peplum is fashion-forward.  Pair this feminine sheath with a little bling for a polished look.

[ Dorothy Perkins Dress $55, Apt. 9 Peep Toe Shoes $40]

If you have a daytime event that is a little less formal, consider jewel-toned pants and an embellished top. These skinny pants have a little bit of a sheen and the collar on the top is lightly beaded. With bright pieces, it’s always safe to add neutrals. For more visual interest, consider a pop of color in your shoes or handbag.

[Vince Camuto Skinny Ankle Pants $39, Warehouse Embellished Top $40,

Xhilaration Pink Clutch $13]

If your holiday party is on the more casual side, choose a twist on your usual weekend wear. Pair gold-coated denim and rocker skull flats with a girly, lace tee and feminine earrings. Throw a short quilted jacket over the top for chilly winter nights and add an on-trend, animal-print clutch for a little extra edginess.

[Vila Femme Top $26, FOREVER 21 Metallic Coated Jeans $25, FOREVER 21 Quilted Puffer Jacket $33,

Miso Leopard Envelope Clutch $24 ]
