Josie Loza

Josie Loza: Introducing the new momaha editor

Momaha, are you there? It’s me, Josie.

I’m the new momaha editor, and I couldn’t be more thrilled.

I know you don’t know me that well. But time and a little elbow grease on my part will change that.

I’m a mom to three spirited kids who all think they rule the roost. My boyfriend and I have two girls — Alejandra, 3, and Gabriella, nearly 1 — and a boy, Bobby Jr., 8, from his previous relationship. They can’t stand to be together or apart. I’m sure you can relate.

Gabriella turns 1 next Friday. I'm still having a hard time deciding to throw her a "Barney" birthday. It's not a very girly theme but she loves the purple guy. We're big into dress up parties at my house. This image is of Bobby at our last 'stache party. Bobby Jr. loves this photo because he says it's his "grown man photo." Alejandra is my fashion baby. She circles items she likes in fashion magazines, loves all things pink and begs her aunties for manicures and pedicures.

Over the past few months, momaha.com has seen changes. (A big thank you to Julie Anderson for running the site during the transition.)

Momaha’s core mission – serving as a community where moms of all walks of life meet to share advice, current events, photos and laughable mommy moments — won’t change. Neither will the dynamic group of mom bloggers in place.

But I have some ideas. You’ll learn more about them in the days to come. And, yes, I think our site will rock your socks.

A little more about me:

I’m 30 years old. I enjoy fashion, baking and crocheting. My family has nightly dress-up and dance-off parties. We go to the library — a lot. And we call our Saturdays “Adventure Days.” We explore Omaha-area museums and the zoo.

I started at The World-Herald in 1999 as a copy messenger running errands for reporters, delivering mail, answering phone calls. In my last semester at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, I was hired on full-time as profile and obituary reporter. Five years ago, I began writing entertainment stories and later started a weekly nightlife column.

Now I’m ready to shift gears. I’m ready to grow. I’m ready for the challenge of being momaha editor.

Social media is a constant for me. I wake up, tweet, make Gabriella a bottle, tweet again. I brush my teeth, then check my Facebook messages. I shower, tweet again.

I encourage you to email me at jloza@owh.com with any thoughts to help improve momaha. My laptop is always open, literally. (I think my kids may have broken it.)

Julie is an amazing mom and writer. I really enjoyed her blogs — especially the posts about her son wanting a Suh jersey. Great stuff. I’d love to have her write, chime in and gab with us.
